This is a video of a trip I did with my long-time friend Mirek Hladik on the upper Kettle River in southern British Columbia. While we did do some fly fishing, the trip soon turned into a bit of an ordeal, as the water levels were extremely low and the air temperatures were extremely high. We dragged our boats along kilometers of river over the four-day trip. However, the trip was still very fu...

This is the third time I've watched your video! It is absoutely a teriffic video. My dad just turned 80 this year, and me, as a child, fished the wild hay all the time with him when I was young and lived in Hinton. My dad said the river was uncanoeable so we always crossed the river on foot in different places and fished log jams. This third time around a question for you came to me and I have to ask...... Did you ever go back to fish those holes that you no longer had time to fish and had to paddle through? I'm really curious if you guys caught a large rainbow? When I was 12 I caught a 2 lb rainbow. The biggest that year for our family. My brother was really jealous. Good memories!

I would if I could 😀. Both our rafts were build directly at a factory in China. We made a bulk order with some other guys and it reduced the cost significantly. So the rafts in this video have no brand name. I have another raft that is a Kokopelli, which is more set up for whitewater. Stikine is a company in BC that makes nice affordable rafts, as well as some other really nice packraft accessories (dry bags, paddles, etc.)

I have two packrafts - one is a Kokopelli and the other was ordered direct from the factory in China where Kokopelli rafts are built. We did a bulk order, and were able to get a really good price point and could choose from 100s of designs. I was looking at Stikine, but they didn't really have the type of raft I was looking for. Perhaps the reason the regulations are the way they are, is because of those who seem to think fishing is just about eating them. The regs are what they are to protect the fish populations, which are rapidly declining. If fishing is something you enjoy, maybe you should think about supporting that.
